I found it to be much more readable and practical than most books on the same subject.

I purchased this book about four years ago and wanted to tell you that my FAVORITE recipe is the Butternut Squash and Apple Soup. I look forward to fall when butternut squash and apples are in season so I can make this soup. The second page of the recipe in my copy has eight notes from different dates when I have made the soup helping me adapt it to my tastes, including using my homemade chicken broth, determining that one tablespoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper is what I like, noting that the squash needs a longer cooking time to get tender. My book opens to this page because of all the times I have made the soup! Three suggestions for future book editions for this recipe: add the word peeled to the apple description, put the recipe on facing pages and add nutritional information at the end of all the recipes. Thank you this delightful book.

It didn’t grab me and I stopped reading it after the first few pages.

This is an interesting little book. It took a little while to get the hang of it since it’s neither fish nor fowl – half remedies and half recipes, but I’m finding that the recipes are really good, and the remedies are things that come up all the time in our exercise group. I keep the book close to hand and go over it now an then, finding something new every time. We especially like the coleslaw with mint, but now we’re ready to branch out. Thank you.
