Q. I've been troubled with irregularity most of my life until I discovered Fiber One cereal. I take it with me everywhere, on cruises, to Europe, even to the hospital. Fiber One bars come in handy when there's no milk supply available.
It's the only remedy that's ever worked for me. I can't stand liquid Metamucil, so I tried their capsules with no results. Benefiber also did nothing for me, so I'm a Fiber One fan forever.
A. Thanks for sharing your constipation solution.

I it about 1/4 of the bar and that’s all I can do because I have a enlarged prostate s o I am worried that I won’t be able to drink enough water so it takes 3days to eat one bar they don’t seam to help me I rather Miralax

I was hesitant to try the Fibre One cereal but after having been to my Dr. and a specialist, the only thing that gave me “some” relief, which the specialist recommended, was Miralax. I’ve used that product before for constipation which I only got after having to take pain medications and everything would get back to normal shortly after I stopped the medication. BTW, I’m not on pain medication now. However having used the Miralax for a couple of months it became less and less effective. I tried Fibre One cereal and got immediate results. I’ve been having it for breakfast for the past three weeks and hopefully it will continue to work for me. I agree that it’s not the best tasting cereal but I’m now adding some granola or sliced banana and it certainly improves the taste.
I know every individual is different and this may not work for you but it’s worth a try.

If you are getting constipated by eating these bars the reason is most likely that you are not drinking enough fluids. Consuming fiber like this without being properly hydrated will cause constipation.

FiberOne cereal & bars gave me awful constipation too. Maybe having just a little would be ok, or maybe you have to drink a lot of water if you eat it? I also noticed that the cereal is really high in sugar.

I recently started eating Fiber One cereal in the morning and a Fiber One yogurt each day. I too am somewhat constipated and had been expecting the opposite and wondered if the Fiber One could be to blame. I’m relieved to hear others are affecting the same way and I guess I will need to find another way to supplement my fiber intake.

I also became extremely constipated when I tried the fiber one bars, although I did think they tasted good, but there is no way I could ever eat one again.

I was liking the Fiber One Bars myself. The one that I bought had chickory root as the 1st listed ingredient.
In the begining it was very good. Kind of Spring tonic good without the drama.
Over time I was noticing blurry vision and thought it was alergies – but when I was looking up chicory – becasue I liked the Fiber One bars – I found information saying that over use of chicory could cause retinal issues.
I dropped the fiber one and the vision issues subsided.
I tend to be hyper-sensative to a lot of things, can’t eat licorice, milk, etc.
Just thought I would throw it out there for others who may be getting too much of a good thing.

I have NEVER in my life been constipated…even when pregnant three times…but I thought I was dying when I added Fiber One bars to my diet. I had AWFUL constipation and that was the ONLY change in my diet. I am lactose intolerant so most EVERYTHING has the opposite effect on me.
Recently my husband found the rest of the bars I hadn’t eaten and started eating one for breakfast for a week…then got severely constipated. Took two days of Metamucil and 4 days off the bars to get him ‘going’ again (this man typically ‘goes’ at least 3 times a DAY). I’m not sure why the both of us had this reaction because I haven’t found ANY evidence of anyone else having this happened.
Just thought I’d throw my 2 cents out into cyberspace..in case it’s actually happened to others.

I use Morphine to control chronic pain. It is very constipating. The normal protocol is to take senna tablets twice a day; that only gave me severe cramps and no relief. Now I mix 2 tablespoons of ground golden flaxseed in my soy milk, morning and evening. I have regained my regularity naturally. In addition, flaxseed is a great source of omega 3 oils which are very beneficial for the body too.

Yeah, I agree. I love Fiber One Bars, just because they taste so good xD
They also have that side effect of being good for you, and it is pretty rare to find something that tastes delicious and is good for you to eat on the go.
I highly praise these bars as snacks on the go. Healthy, Nummy, and not messy!

Uncle Sam cereal works for me. Lots of flax seed in it.

On an 18 day trip through Italy, Fiber One bars were a lifesaver. I had been eating one a day at home and decided to take a full supply on the trip. No problemo.

I also eat a Fiber One bar daily. The peanut butter bars are tastier than the chocolate chip, but both are great. They keep me VERY regular and I would like to work up to 3 bars/day to get my daily dose of fiber. I swear by these bars and tell everyone about them! Also, they are so yummy I could eat one instead of a candy bar.
