  1. Thyroid medication

    David E. Kamins

My treatment requires one pill in the morning and one at night. What times do you suggest? I like your discussion and understand that you might be adverse to suggesting an answer to my question.

    • For the morning dose, doctors generally recommend at least half an hour before food or drink (especially coffee). For the evening dose, at least an hour after eating. I myself take levothyroxine and switched to a bedtime dose years ago, after reading the research. I brush my teeth, take my pill with water and get into bed. That might not suit everyone but it seems to work for me.

I’m dealing with a situation where my TSH test results show me (falsely) to be hypothroid. This guide serves as a good road map on how to cope with this

  4. Great Information!

    Elizabeth Burger

I was just recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and was very upset at first. The thought of having to take a pill for the rest of my life was not what I was expecting to hear from my doctor. I have always trusted The People’s Pharmacy, and it was the first place I went for information until my follow up appointment. This guide helped me understand what is going on in my body, and I am more prepared to ask questions at my next doctor’s visit. The human body is an incredible thing, and this helped me understand a little how it works.

Great information on biotin’s interference with thyroid testing! I sent the information to my doctor and to the compounding pharmacist. The whole article was very informative, and I printed the list of foods to restrict for hypothyroidism. I learned a lot. Thank you, thank you.

  8. Helpful Thyroid Information

Very helpful information. Few doctors take really the time to speak with you in detail about the options of treatments. This information takes you to the point of better understanding how the Thyroid works.
